Can anyone recommend a good dog trainer who will come to your home for training sessions (I have a 5 mth Spaniel mix)
Lauren B. replied:
Linda Hobson. She lives in Hamilton. She is really great! .Positive reinforcement only and you get to learn along with your dog. You can find her under Hobson's Dog Training or on facebook

I have never used a trainer who came to the home. However, I think Linda Hobson has a very good reputation, and I know that she goes to people's homes. (I know her slightly because we both took canine nose work classes, although not in the same class, and we saw each other fairly often.) You can find her listed as Hobson Dog Training. I've never heard anything at all bad about her, and she has been a dog trainer for a long a time, since at least the late 1980 s. There's also a trainer that the SAVE shelter recommends often. His name is Barry Rosenberg. I've met him a few times. I'm not sure, but I think both Stephanie and Lynn of Heavenly Hounds might go to people's homes, although they mainly work with classes. (My dog had classes with Lynn and a little bit with Stephanie when they both used to work for Petsmart in 2009, before Heavenly Hounds opened.) If your dog is a puppy, I've heard the Megan-somebody of Puppergarten is very good. I've never met her. I know she does classes, but she might also go to homes. I'm assuming you live in the Lawrence/Pennington/Ewing/Hopewell area and not near Hillsborough, but if you're near Hillsborough, I can mention someone else.

I used Megan at Puppergarten here in Pennington. But I have heard Heavenly Hounds is great too.

Does Megan from Puppergarten do training in people's homes? I wasn't sure about that. I know she teaches a puppy class on Tuesday evenings at West Trenton Animal Hospital in Ewing, in addition to in her own school facility in Pennington. I'm not sure whether Lynn and Stephanie do home visits. Maybe they do.

Megan from Puppergarten came to our house for a training session. She does puppy classes Tuesday nights at W. trenton Animal Hospital and Thursday nights at Rosedale Mills.
