Anyone know of any independent book stores in the surrounding area that has a good selection of kids' books for sale? It's sad that I have to go to Barnes and Noble in...

The original owner of The Bookshop in Pompton Plains was Spencer Smith back in the 60 s. I loved to finish my paper route and go in there to buy Doc Savage novels, Tarzan novels and Ace science fiction doubles. I would sit and talk to Mr. Smith for hours.

The Watchung Booksellers (54 Fairfield St) in Montclair is an independent book store with a small children's room, and they can get anything for you as fast as amazon. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, too.

If you're driving down to Clifton anyway go to the Montclair Book Center. They have a large selection of new and used books with a dedicated kids section. http://www.montclairbookcenter.com/
