HELP!!! Is there anywhere in Lansing vicinity where you can buy larger woman's bike clothing? I am in need of (2) jersey's U.S. size 5x. And 4X bottom padded...

I would say you should try TerryBicycles (for women) they have a plus line - not sure what the measurements are - (they go up to a 3 x but the measurements may be different). Also online, affordably, made in USA is AeroTech Designs. I'll bet they could get you something. You probably want a women-specific chamois (I find the mens chamois to be too large to be comfortable and fit well, causing some friction), so try to buy women's shorts, even if you end up with a men's jersey for fit.

Kathy Swift Giganti, I rode with a woman who smoked me on every turn - up hills, on the flats, and she was plus sized. I'm average sized (short, but average) and it's really a matter of lung and leg conditioning, not your size. Bonus, you'll be healthier, no matter what! Good for you - I haven't done PALM but I hear it's a great ride! If you do really want to have something custom on the Tri County Bike Association there's a gal who advertises for custom cycling gear - she's in DeWitt, I think. You could post in their group, someone could find her contact info. Then you could have whatever fancy bike jersey design you want (go to Terry Bikes for inspiration). IMHO, having the right gear is essential.

Kathy, the lady who makes the custom cycling items advertises in the "Chainwheel Chatter" newsletter on www.biketcba.org. Good luck...I know I've never found anything in Lansing in larger sizes.

Kathy, I'm definitely in the "plus size" category and the TCBA/LMB jerseys run really small (and freakishly long). I resembled a snausage! I've got one jersey from Team Estrogen (www.teamestrogen.com) that runs true to size. They have 40+ options for 3X and maybe 10 options for 4X - 5X.
