I've done the ride through the Mountains with High Country Horses at Merrijig there were 6 of us Who went - it was absolutely brilliant- horses were awesome - the company looked after us a treat - we did the 3 day ride an camped over with all meals provided - check out the pics on my albums

Whatever you do, don't miss 'The Wall in the Wilderness' at Derwent River Bridge. By far the best wood work I've seen anywhere. Just brilliant!

I use to live in Stanley, Tas it's beautiful. There is free RV camping at the footy oval there and also near Tall Timbers in Smithton (about 15 mins West of Stanley). Maybe check this out too http://www.campingtasmania.com/free-camping-tasmania.htm

Bakers Beach has horse yards and camping facilities and trails to the beach. You just need to contact the ranger a few days in advance to book the yards. Not sure of costs though
