We had the problem of mice in the loft. We put down blocks of poison we got from the DIY shop in Corringham. They went quiet for a while but later, came back. Another few blocks of poison were put down and we haven't heard from them since. My husband only found 1 dead mouse.

https://www.facebook.com/vanvynck Van Vynck in Tilbury (link above) gave us an excellent, reasonable service when we had rats in the garden. The follow was good too. Highly recommend them. I fear if you are hearing scratching in your loft etc. you have more than one mouse so an expert is probably called for. Hope that helps.
