Your idea of reasonable and other peoples may be vastly different. We have stayed at the Centara (high end), The Royal Pavillion (mid) Nicha (budget end) all very different.

Hi I am visiting Hua Hin for two weeks in April and our previous accommodation we had arranged has fallen through so I am looking for a decent hotel/apartment either...

Baan Bayan will cost about £90/night for two people, in a double room in April, breakfast will be included in that price and it's rather special. That price is based on booking.com rates. I stay there quite often, it's a very nice place based on old fashioned Thai style buildings. It has two nice pools, one is shallow, and there are ample sun loungers. The hotel also provides sun beds on the beach with parasols all included in the price. Sometimes I walk into HH along the beach or the road, but more comfortably a TukTuk ride costs 100Tbht. If you contact the manager directly you'll get a better price. His name is Tawat Insuwon and his email address is tawat@baanbayan.com Next door is Verandah Lodge, it's cheaper but not quite so nice. Also nearly all of the open space is in shade all day. Sometimes I have lunch there but not so fond of the accommodation. Hope you both have a great time.

Laksasubha Resort is gorgeous and on the beachfront, ask for Spencer or Daniel, they should be able to sort you a nice deal if they're not booked up during that period yet. Worth a try, beachfront and town centre location, close by to Centara Resort.

I liked a small place called Ruenkanok. Typical Thai wooden cottages with lots of plants and fish ponds. Cute swimming pool. Close to a seafood restaurant by the beach called Madame Green which is popular with Bangkok Thais. Look at Booking.com
Asking the impossible but: coming to HH from 28/1 - 2/1/17. Does anyone know of a place centrally that can be had for 1,000 baht a night that's not a hole? I appreciate...

Check out agoda.com Several hotels on there… With good descriptions… Reviews and they generally give you a discount on the price of a hotel. Before we moved here we had stayed at a hotel here and only paid for 450 per night … With the pool… With Aircon… And at the time our child was about 12 months

Thank U again for all the infos... Glad to know all the ways to get to Hua Hin frm BKK...
I'd recommend using the train. Experience is worth it. You can book the tickets at the official website up to 60 days in advance: https://www.thairailwayticket.com/eTSRT/default.aspx?language=1 Did it a couple times already. You just need to print out the tickets.
