Boric acid around the foundation works. I think Home Depot/LOWES sells it. If they are big carpenter ants, find the source - - I had a tree branch touching my roof, and they were coming in thru a patch in the roof tile - - uck! Cutting the branch back worked. (And Shop-Vaccing them up from inside the house).
