Can anyone recommend a hotel or B&B close to Vatican City or near a subway station? THANKS!
Carol S. replied:
Emailed my friend. Their family's hotel company website is attached. I did not stay at their Florence Hotel, but did stay at their property in Rome...outstanding. Walking distance to the Spanish Steps and (albeit a little hike) the Vatican. I can highly recommend it. http://www.baglionihotels.com/category/destinations-2/florence-tuscany/

If you want a private tour of Tuscany while there (Siena, etc.) please call Roberto and Patty Bechi - Tours by Roberto. tourrob@tin.it Phone: 011-39-0328-943-8242 We spent a day with him...delightful!! Patty is American, and he lived in the US for a while. Again, this was in 2000, so he won't remember me. We found him as he is recommended on the Rick Steve's TV shows and Books.
Carol S. replied:
Just checked the website I provided earlier, for Roberto Bechi. It is incorrect and has been changed to this one. http://www.toursbyroberto.com/tours.html

NYC Friends: can anyone recommend a "reasonable" hotel in the area (reasonable for NYC) the place where I usually stay is sold out. Will be there Oct 18 & 19. Thanks

You should give AirBNB a try. I used it last year and had a great experience. $90 a night for this: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/338004

Hilton Garden Inn dowtown, but it depends on when and you should really use a specific site for this. Expedia.com or hotel.com is what I use. There's probably a newer, better one. Especially better than just Reddit - they have pictures, etc...

Depending on when you buy tickets, sometimes you can find the Hyatt downtown or the Crown Plaza hotels under 150.

Book on Hotwire with their hidden rates. Seriously. Indianapolis is a small enough market that there are only a few 4 star hotels that work with them on their hidden rates, so it's easy to guess which ones they will be. They are always either the Omni, Hilton, or Hyatt. Best part is you can get them for about $90-$100 including all taxes and fees. EDIT: Only stipulation is you generally have to wait until the week of to book in order to get the best price.
Okay, I need to get a beach vacation scheduled. Or it will never happen. I've mainly been looking at siesta key in Florida and have a few condos that could work. But do...

Long boat key (Little Gull cottages)the beaches are generally private so it's less crowded and very close to Sarasota. We also like Treasure Island and stay at Sunset Vistas (also private). Destin would also be good if you are looking for somewhere a bit closer but we enjoyed the other two with small kids.
Kathy C. replied:
Look at Long Boat Key. Contact Andy Deemer at the Keystone office for information. 29-6000. They are cottages just a few steps from the beach, lots of shade and grass to play in and nice screened porches. You will be surprised how nice they are. They are just north of Siesta Key.
Stacers K. replied:
We looked on vrbo.com. There are plenty of condos for rent, some with pools. Then there are the high rise condo resorts in Orange Beach. Happy hunting!
Caroline C. replied:
We go to Longboat Key in March and love it. It is a little north of Siesta Key. A little more secluded and not so touristy but not as family friendly. We have been taking our son there since he was 1 but just found our own stuff to do. Have heard really good things about Siesta Key and have been to the beaches a couple times and they are gorgeous.
Caroline C. replied:
When we drive we have gone to the SanDestin resort. It was fine but crowded (we went on Spring Break). I have really wanted to go back to that area in June (the weather at Spring Break time can be iffy) but I would go back to Rosemary Beach or Seaside. Have heard amazing things about both of those areas.

I am a big fan of Warfleigh in Broad Ripple. It's first come, first serve so be prepared to wait for a bit if they are busy. But you can hang out and have a beer while you wait.

Jack's Barber shop in City Market. Ask for Brenda and make an appointment. Tell her what you want and she got you. 100. Best in town.
Kilgoretrout250 replied:
I grew my hair out for two years and decided to get it cut at brick and mortar on Delaware, downtown. Nothing but got The barbers there are licensed, have professional attitudes about their work, and are friendly people. I Would suggest it to any guy in Indy. In the past I got my hair cut in the City Market. I do not recomend it, the owner is super rude and does not stop talking. I want a relaxing experience, not a reason to escape.
