Sam, I was given one of these as a gift a couple of years ago. I've used it to record many shows, practices, and tons of other stuff. I have heard similar recordings made with other devices, and I feel this is one of the best out there. http://www.amazon.com/Roland.../dp/B003IJ3WIW/ref=sr_1_1...

Greg Brown was my 4 th grade music student teacher. I remember he had us sing Benny and the Jets by Elton John--the ultimate in cool back then.

I've been thinking about this tonight. I remember that photo well, and I'm fairly certain they never performed together as an official group. This looks to me like the end of a post-closing time jam session. I have memories of just of few of those myself, but admittedly they are very hazy... Maybe the Mill's 25 th celebration? I know Don Lange's song "Old Wooly" was written about an after hours jam at the Mill. Here are Priscilla Herdman's liner notes: "Don Lange was performing one night in 1971 in a place called "The Mill" in Iowa City, Iowa, when an old fellow asked if he could play a couple of tunes. The song Old Wooley grew from the events that followed that evening. "The Mill" was a place I frequented back in the late sixties." Dan Brown? You should weigh in on this.

Haverkamp nails it! Now I've got a photo hanging on my wall of Bo and Greg, with Zo and Lis singing--lead, I believe--at The Mill. I remember I left my horse runnin' outside. Neither of the girls were married--as yet--they both are now. With complete respect to two of the finest musicians Iowa City has produced, I gotta say they look younger in the photo above than they did in mine.

Not really, Patrick Hazell fronted Mother Blues, Bo played with him a bit, but that band had numerous incarnations. Here's is Patrick's summary: http://www.patrickhazell.com/index.php/mother-blues/
