Wedding recommendations? My friend just got engaged and is looking for suggestions around the area for florists, venues, caterers, or photographers.
Price isn’t...

Brown Deer golf course is nice for receptions. Or at least was 8 years ago when I had mine there.

Unique Events has great services (DJ, photo booth, lighting, lots of good partner vendor recommendations). Old Brick is an excellent venue that's relatively cheap and doesn't have a ton of restrictions. Highly, highly recommend Eric Yerke for photography.

We catered with La Regia for tacos. It was really cheap and really really good. All of our guests loved the food as well. I’d highly recommend all weddings have tacos. Another thing I’d recommend is getting a keg of root beer. We got a keg of Millstream root beer through HyVee. The non drinkers and kids all really liked it as well as many of the adults. It was an inexpensive way to do something a little unique. We had the reception at the building in North Ridge park because the price was right and we wanted a small event. We used Tip Top Cakes in Coralville for the cake, which was delicious (unlike most wedding cakes).

We had our wedding and reception at Palmer House Stable in Solon, IA. At that venue, you can pick your own caterer (we did Dostal Catering from CR) and bring in your own beer and wine. There's also a complimentary shuttle from Heartland Inn if your guests stay there. E's Florals was great to work with and very reasonable price-wise. Our photographer was Rock Tai Photography. We were very happy with all of our vendors.

We did our reception at the [Lake MacBride Golf Course](http://lakemacbridegolfclub.com/), there were some fantastic spots outdoors for photos near the woods and lake, plus they let us use the golf carts to get to and from, along with some spots right outside of the venue doors. The food they made for the party was the best food I and long with most of the guests have ever had (seriously the lady who does the cooking there did the best roast beef any of us ever had and it was in mass quantities). They were very accommodating with the kegs of beer we wanted and for us bringing in our own cake. We are not golfers so the place seemed odd at first but turned out really well, they have a whole floor dedicated to events with its own doors and all, they supplied everything but the DJ, Photographer (and let us bring our own cake versus using their baker).
