I'm looking for some local coffee beans if there are any. Local to Iwakuni or just Japan in general. Does anyone know of any? Maybe something exotic?

Downtown Iwakuni on the side street across from YMCA. You can park in the Saikyo bank for 10 minutes free. The beans here are roasted an hour away in Shunan, and the roaster has been around for decades. Coffeeboy is the roaster and ambiente is the local cafe that sells the beans (and has amazing drinks too!). ambiente http://goo.gl/maps/gEPW3

Hard Rock Cafe isn't by yahoo dome anymore, it's at Hakata station now. You could go to Ramen stadium in Canal City or El Barrachos in Hakata is good for dinner. (Their lunch menu is super limited though)
Also like Hungry Heaven. And pretty much any sushi place. The one in top floor of Yodabashi is good.

Eggs and Things has great Breakfast . Macidamia Numt Pancakes and Omlets. Hakata Ippudo is the best Ramen I have ever had and they are in Fukuoaka too.

Depends on which type of food you're craving. My favorites would be Shabu Jin (all you can eat Japanese at 3 corners), Mottimo (italian by fresta), Akiyama (sushi past yellow hat), Osaka Ohsho (Japanese off route 2), Broccoli Grill (burgers downtown) ... browse Iwakuni Explorer or Iwakuni Foodie and you're bound to find something!:)

Kings on route 2 in Iwakuni has good chopped steaks and other food. It's kind of like a bare bones Golden Corral.
Is there somewhere off base that is recommended to buy fresh fruit, veggies, and meat? Also, is there any local restaurants that are recommended to try?
Linda C. replied:
There's also a little organic farmers market at Waki Station (comes up in Google Maps) every Saturday from 0900-1400. I agree with Meg. It's always a good idea to have yen on you. This way you don't limit yourself on where you can eat. You can also check out Iwakuni Foodie page for restaurant ideas and more information on the Waki Farmers Market.:)

YouMe Town in Minami-Iwakuni has Yamaguchi honey Year-round in the 'local/Yamaguchi' produce section. It's on an end cap and looks like this. 900¥ for 300 g jar. I hear that you need to eat the honey a couple of months before the season to see an effect. I eat it every day and still have to take Zyrtec! lol
