Shannon Gibb Chastain, is correct per your map. HoneyCreek, just north of St Joseph, Missouri would hit your mark for your first day trip, the next close one is Waubonsie State Park, that i mentioned before. Just by looking at your map those are the best two for your first day of stopping. Newton Hills, and Union park just over the Iowa line into South dakota, would require a state park sticker. Honey Creek in Missouri, and Waubonsie just over the line into Iowa do not. both of these parks are just off interstate 29 and both are easy in, easy out for the rigs. Basing those two places on your one day two hour mark.

We use www.horsetraildirectory.com to plan to locate horsecamps every 8 hours but we did do a 15 hour day one time because their was a tornado near the camp we had planned to stop at. Our horses travel with a full hay bag and we stop every 3-4 hours at rest areas or truck stops that have a large grassy area. They are comfortable in traffic so we unload, let them eat grass and do their business and offer water although they seldom drink until we get to camp.
