The smaller 120 volt machines from lincoln, miller, Hobart or the private label stuff like Eastwood are good options. if you want to weld aluminum plan on doubling your the investment. Bigger spools of wire are cheaper by volume. So make sure it will tak a larger spool if your doing volume. If the wire gets rusty it will need to be cut out or replace the spool. Find a local welder or someone with welding skills to help you get started it will give you a step up on the learning curve. Machine shops, HVAC, collision, or muffler shops, and weekend racers often will have a machine. Welding supply shops may also have used equipment off a lease or a trade in. These can be a decent option to get started.

I would stay the Hobart is your Best Buy. Stay with Miller, Lincoln, and Hobart. All proven in the industry for ages. A 220 volt machine would give you more options or a multi volt 110 / 220 If you go to Weldingweb and search all your questions will be answered. http://weldingweb.com/forum.php
