Does anyone have teenagers with ADD that knows a good doctor in town that can help. One of my kids is trying so hard but struggling..
Beth M. replied:
Glacier Pediatrics. We saw Dr Brown before he retired. My son now sees Dr Dressel. If you PM I'll be happy to share more info about our experiences and offer some suggestions of things that have worked for us.
Felix L. replied:
Amy Dressel
Candice M. replied:
We see Dr. Dressel at Glacier Peds and she has been awesome. My son has been seeing her for almost 5 years:)

Food for thought. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/suffer-the-children/201203/why-french-kids-dont-have-adhd
Hilary R. replied:
Dr Stauffer at Bartlett Outpatient Psychiatry is a wonderful child psychiatrist:-) 796-8498 There is a big difference between a physician who can write a prescription, and a psychiatrist who can help to inform you/your son about why his brain may require chemical alteration, and Dr Stauffer has wonderful recommendations for other supports and professionals in town who can help!
Alice W. replied:
Dr Stauffer, Kind, intelligent, supportive. Works with family, and answers questions, takes his time in meetings. Good luck
Tannis K. replied:
Out Patient Pyschiatry at Bartlett has two doc that deal with children.
Kelly P. replied:
Justine Emerson at Valley Medical helped us....
Stacy S. replied:
You might try SEARHC Behavioral Health. They've been extremely helpful in my experience with ADD.
Shannon C. replied:
Dr Taintor at SEARHC. He treats my son and has been amazing and very thorough.
Does anyone in Juneau have recommendations for a good doctor that specializes in diagnosing auto-immune disorders, who will truly listen to you?

NO..there are NO Rheumatologist in Juneau...how well I know that one..and really..no one really treats it correctly...
Devon W. replied:
Emily Kane!
Tiffany M. replied:
Dr. Neary’s office perhaps? They have a naturalpathic approach and look at a variety of things when trying to help you. He helped me ‘reset’ years ago to reduce my migraines and his voodoo barks and fish oils worked
Ken H. replied:
Melissa Ordner and I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Malter at Family Practice. You can tell that he’s listening and he’s always been proactive in checking with specialists down south. Plus, he totally reminds me of Woody Allen!
Is there any good doctors in this town accepting new male patients? Just looking for a doctor who cares about their patients
Stacy S. replied:
We both go to Dr. Malter - Family Practice. We like him. They also have PA's that are really good, too.
Delmar M. replied:
Try April Sapp she's wonderful
Anthony M. replied:
Try Southeast Medical
Cindy H. replied:
April Sapp is a nurse practioner. I will just say that I had a different experience with her then Delmar. Everyone has to find the right fit for their doctor, It is really a difficult situation here in Juneau. Lack of empathy and REALLY taking the time to listen to their patients is a hard find here.
Christie A. replied:
Dr. Jessica Scott at Southeast Medical Clinic (located next to JRC downtown) is accepting new patients. She is an excellent provider. Sarah Niecko, PA-C and Bonnie Lash FNP are also excellent providers taking on new patients at Southeast Medical. You can call 586-8100 Mon-Fri after 9 am to schedule an appt.
So this may be a long shot.
I have a referral in (made by Dr. Shaw) to have a root canal done, but I can't remember the name of the doctor to call and schedule, and...
Hilary R. replied:
Dr Paulson? He did my extraction and was AWESOME! For root canal I just went to Dr Moleski
Kathy W. replied:
Painless Paulson. He's the best
Mari M. replied:
I saw Dr Ellis for a specialty root canal
Janice K. replied:
My husband just had one done at Dr. Mesdag's office.
Hello! Can anyone recommend a doctor or medical practice that isn't Valley Medical, and who bills insurance? I need to see someone this week about some severe back/leg...
Anthony M. replied:
Southeast Medical586 8100
Cindy H. replied:
That is because the ER hires doctors separate from offices. Ya just got to love Juneau's medical care. I have heard lots of bad stuff about Dr. Than and valley medical, Samll town doc's got to watch out for your reputations. I'm just saying..Also, Why are nurse practioners considered doctors here?
Cindy H. replied:
Everyone has to find their own fit with their doctors, or nurse practioners, I'm glad for you Debbie, But I have heard some really bad things regarding Dr. Than and Vally Medical, from first hand accounts with her. and that place. But to each thier own. I personally would not go there.
Recommendations for a few different service providers? I am looking for recommendations for these services in Juneau:

The Juneau community collective Facebook group is a pot more active than this place, you might get better advice over there. Good luck!

My husband and I need a primary care physician here in Juneau. Any recommendations for good doctors?
Debra K. replied:
Valley Medical is the greatest!!!!!
Glenda W. replied:
Dr Haight at Urgent Care is fantastic.
Rick V. replied:
Dr Bob Urata at Valley Medical Care is awesome.
Matt R. replied:
Valley Medical is great. Dr. Urata has been excellent, and when he's not available I've seen a couple other docs who have all been really good as well. They have always gotten me in within a day or two, and twice when I had serious problems (broken ribs and a bad infection from a bug bite) they got me in immediately. Can't say enough good things about them so far.
Jesse S. replied:
Dr. Haight is awesome but unfortunately Urgent Care suckssss. He's been my doctor 10 years and my dads.
Karena P. replied:
Your first challenge will be finding a Clinic and physician that accepts new patients. I know SE Medical Clinic accepts new patients, but when I called two weeks ago with shingles, the first available appointment was six weeks.
Kathleen B. replied:
Brandy Sale at Wellspring is accepting new patients!
A close family member of mine tore her meniscus, any reputable doctors you'd recommend for a knee consult & possible surgery? Thanks in advance! :)
Kris K. replied:
Dr. Harrah at Juneau Bone and Joint is awesome!
Hilary R. replied:
Dr Harrah!
Jaime Z. replied:
We really like Dr. Schwarting but I think it's less expensive to fly to Seattle and have it done, from what I understand Bartlett is getting incredibly expensive.
Tim L. replied:
Dr Wahl Swedish Orthropedics
Agnes V. replied:
Dr. Schwarting did mine
Leanne G. replied:
Ted Schwarting. I'm so grateful he was on call when I fell & needed surgery on my broken wrist in April. He's my Go-To guy.
Raymond Z. replied:
Dr Schwarting at Juneau bone and joint did a great job on both of mine!!
Helena N. replied:
I tried to see Dr. Schwarting three different times and all three times I waited over an hour for what was a scheduled appointment. JB&J is outrageous to work with. I will leave town next time that's for sure!
Kris K. replied:
Dr. Harrah did both my knees and then replaced a knee too. Why leave Juneau when there is a very competent doctor intown?
Does anyone have advice about a good doctor in Juneau that is very skilled, works regular hours, is reliable and is willing to communicate and follow up with phone calls...

Haha, Keith. What, Linda? Kaye, Connie is my regular gal but she is out of town.
Kaye P. replied:
Try Abby Cummins at Family Practice. She is amazing, too!
Emily W. replied:
Don Schneider at Valley Medical. The guy is amazing. Delivered all 3 of my babes, even though he wasn't on call for 2 of the 3.

Cynthia R. replied:
awww. Sounds like a bad situation. Their voice mail should provide you with an after hours emergency number. Call that first and listen to their message. If you're not getting enough information, call Dr. Vic Walker.
Hailey B. replied:
