If you need a large supply, here's an idea. But these have hinged lids. https://plasticcontainercity.com/bakery-supplies/bakery-packaging.htm

If anyone in the US has one, it would be Susan at www.susansfibershop.com. She's been a Patrick Green dealer for ages and carries all kinds of things that most folks don't bother with. Give her a call (she has hundreds if not thousands of items that aren't on the web site).
I have a felting project in mind where I would need roughly .25 oz of wool from 100 different sheep. I would want all sorts of breeds, colors, and textures.
I'd love...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/91443061/30-breed-fiber-sampler-undyed-wool It's a full ounce of each breed, maybe she would be willing to do a custom sampler for you with smaller bits?
Sharon O. replied:
Arlene Vasquez could help you. She is on Facebook and has many breeds in her stores, she sells a bunch of fibers at good prices and combines shipping costs to save you money.

Occasionally I come across local ranchers (alpaca) and other small holding farmers/shepherds (sheep) who may be interested in marketing raw fleeces/fibre products to the...

Cathy, many purchasers on the FB groups are from the US so yes shipping costs in Canada are high but the exchange rate favours a big market of buyers. Besides the good practices of selling (truthfully stating quality & condition of fleece, good photos, good customer relations), packaging to make it small to cut shipping costs and reliable shipping methods are important. UPS cross border is awful! I won't buy anything if shipped by them. They charge 50% of declared value as an extra charge to the buyer to take it thru customs...which is often not needed. A customs form is required but not the physical walking it thru service that requires 50% of the value. They also don't tell the shipper so they appear to be the cheapest. Fedex has been great cross border and I'm sure others. Couriers for bigger packages are often cheaper than standard mail. Try and figure out a reasonable shipping method and cost in advance. Box one up and price it as if it were going across the country and across the border. Canada Post has a shipping estimator online as do most courier companies. That will give your fibre producers a sense of how to price and whether it's worth it. There is also an exclusively Canadian Fibre producers FB group but admin has to be able to see your home location or you won't be allowed in...so make sure that isn't marked private. I had to change that on mine. Send me a private pm if you want to chat more.
