Looking for recommendations for a mechanic/shop that does VWs. Check engine light just went on :(

Jenna Holloway good to know! I'll try that first although we've been hearing a rattle this weekend. I tightened the gas cap hoping that was the issue and the light was still on

Inglewood Auto in the strip mall at Juanita Dr and Simonds. Jim is a straight shooter.

Sue P. replied:
Inglewood Auto is fantastic!!! Juanita Drive and Simonds. I agree with the Pat McSweeney comment -- Jim is the BEST and will do ONLY what is needed and also let you know if something is going to be coming up before too long but not essential just yet. My check engine light came on and it took him about 5 minutes to figure out what was wrong and ordered the part right away so it could get fixed.
Tracy S. replied:
Advanced European Auto near Safeway works on my VW. They have always been very fair and don't take forever to fix it.

I have no idea if they do VW (sorry if this is no help at all!) but we love Juanita Firs 76 in Kirkland on 100 th. It is a great, honest, family run business.

Cary W. replied:
I second Zahntech. They are known as the best TDI shop in the Seattle area, hands down. Other shops send their TDIs to Matthew at Zahntech to diagnose. I've taken all my German and Japanese cars to Zahntech since 2008, including two TDI wagons. In fact, Zahntech correctly repaired my Audi heating system after Advanced European Auto failed to repair it correctly (thought I'd give Tony a chance because they're so close, but was disappointed).
My son is looking at buying an older used car. Does anyone have a recommendation for a local garage or mechanic that does pre-purchase inspections?

I've used Kenmore Automotive couple years ago for some pricey repairs. They were honest & did a good job. I also heard that the guy next to Mail Access@corner of Simonds Road/Juanita Dr NE (68 th) is good & honest. But just to be clear, I'm referring to the one in the same parking lot as Inglemoor Animal Hospital, Mail Access, Golden Nails, Massage place & Manhattan Express Mini Market. Not referring to the place next door that's now become a used "BMW" car dealership along with the car detailer.
