Valvoline VR-1 20/50 is the best hands down period end of discussion, it has a very high zinc content in it and that's what your mechanic is talking about.

Shell Rotella is good with the additives as you were told. Been running it in my circle track race engines for years.. Joe gibbs oil is not good for anything thats not fully rollerized
