We tell about the history of La Grange on the ghost tours. The Oldham County History Center is the best resource.

Carlos McDowell, the first mayor of La Grange, was killed during the December 1910 fire that destroyed buildings on Main Street, from where Karen's Book Barn is now located up to about where The Treasured Child is located. This photo was probably taken somewhere between 1900 and then. This location is at 104 E. Main - the old Head's Drug Store, the current location of Gallery 104.

I figured out tonight who the young man on the right is. It is Frank L. Lee, son of Dr. G.O. Lee, who was a dentist here in La Grange. Frank went on to have his own pharmacy in Eminence and then in Middlesboro, Ky. I came across a blog with their family history quite by accident. There were photographs of Frank. In this photo he is listed as "Unknown".

Barbara M. replied:
I should have said, that man on the left is Carlos McDowell.

Mayor Carlos McDowell is one of the Ghostly accounts related in The Spirits of LaGrange Tour. Strange occurrences in the Old Pharmacy include objects disappearing and being moved. The doorbell would ring and no one would be there. Most recently during ghost tours heavy footsteps are heard overhead when investigated by members of the tour, they found no one there. This is a historically accurate tour of LaGrange........
