Gym recommendations in maui I am planning a trip to Maui and I was wondering if anyone had any bjj gym recommendations in the kihei area. Basic Google search shows more...

Cascao BJJ Hanaloa in Wailuku (maui), HI is about a 20 minute drive and its an affiliate school, not the closest but just a recommendation.

I have been to Maui many times and always train at Maui jiu jitsu in Haiku. It is run by fifth degree Rickson BB Luis Limao Heredia who is a bit of a legend in his own right. He was part of the train that walked Royce to the cage at UFC1 and is featured in the documentary Choke. It is my favourite gym to visit (I have been to maybe 40) Super chill gym and welcoming to visitors. An interesting mix of sport players and old school rice and beans jiujitsu. I have run into Steve Maxwell there twice. It is a long drive - maybe 45 minutes. Limao used to run a satellite school in Kihei but I think it is no more. There is a fish taco stand in the parking lot and the Haiku grocery in the same complex has poke bowl. EXTRA SECRET PRO TIP: there is no shower but there is a hose out back, which is fine and makes total sense in Hawaii.

Where on the island are you going to stay. If you are staying in Lahaina there is a Carlson Gracie BB Christian Grandi that has a school there. He is very welcoming and is a great instructor. The guys who train there are welcoming as well. Every time I visit the island I train there. http://www.mauibjj.com/

There's a Gracie academy across the road from a great Japanese restaurant. It's a bit North-East of Kihei, but a short enough drive. Maui is a great place to visit, my wife and I want to go back and explore the South-West area of the island.
