Bob Henning just a thought, I try this first on my home. If you have a shop vacuum (wet/dry) put end of hose over opening, you may have to rap a rag around the area were they meet and plug the over flow hole. Should suck it right out. If a double sink makesure stoper is in other. Turn water on in any other sinks that may be connected but are draining.

We always use Gilbert Heating out of Sandusky for our plumbing. (They advertise more on the heating side, but do awesome plumbing work and are fair with pricing, $45 an hour I believe. ) I wish you luck:)
