Nick, I saved up and went with the SF-1 as my starter. Folly in the opinion of some, considering the price tag. I beg to differ. It's been immensely valuable, both as I was learning and now as our profile/sample roaster. We use an SF-25 for production and when scaling up the roast it's a big benefit having the pair. They are also based in Nevada. So tech support and training would be right at your fingertips. There are plenty of other, less expensive low capacity drum roasters out there though, but none THAT cheap. Take a look at Mill City Roasters as well as San Fransican. A few months ago, Brian Kourik was trying to help coordinate regular events at Old School Brewing Company which is in the DI/Durango area. You might want to touch base with him. I know they did at least one drink and draft that they coordinated with Stripside and they said the setup was pretty good for games at the time.
