We have a gas water heater and it's on the fritz. We've talked about switching to an electric water heater in the past. Since we are going to have to spend money to fix...

A tankless water heater works on demand for hot water. It does not require a tank to fill it with warm water. If installed properly they work well. If not vented properly or installed correctly, you have major problems. They are pricey up front. Tankle ss water heaters run about $5 k to $8 k depending on size. It is more efficient and does a better job in the long run for larger households. The demand for hot water is faster because you don't have a tank to fill up with hot water (hence tankless). But s good gas water heater with a 6 yr warranty will cost you approx. $1600. We had to replace ours last year. Our neighbors have tankless water heaters, but they have 6 people. A great person to talk to is Ron Webster (317- 538-4223). He has been trained by the best in Europe to learn how to properly install the tankless water heaters. His recommendation is Reem and Niviadia products. Give Ron a call and mention that I referred you to him. He may be able to help you decide which way to go and what's best for your budget. Good Luck.
