I had a similar problem, the tension might be caused by chronic stress...you can try this place http://www.salvadormassageservices.nl/ ( i can recommend it) or try to find a physiotherapist...there are many in Leiden. Good luck!

I know it's not Leiden but Rianne Vos at the Wassenaar Bronovo Gezondgezondheid center is excellent. Never a long wait, and she also doesn't tell you to take paracetamol for everything.
Leslie J. replied:
Never had that problem with Dr. Vos. She's great. She listens, refers whenever you ask her to, and if you need a letter for your expat insurance just write it and she signs it. Very accommodating. We've been lucky with her because I've heard the horror stories! I wanted allergy tests to see what I was so allergic to because no otc meds were working and she didn't try to get me to take loratadine, she ordered the test straight away. Good service.

My advice would be to register at the International Health Center in The Hague. They're in Scheveningen, so a bit of a trip, but they all speak English natively (or almost natively) and they are set up especially for expats. I used to be with them and was very happy.

As for your 1 st Q: try Ben. They do a monthly rolling contract and you can be flexible in minutes/data. www.ben.nl As for your 2 nd Q: the basic health insurance probably won't cover that. You will probably have to get additional insurance, but every insurance covers different things in their additional insurance. Maybe it's best to call a few. There was a question on here a few weeks ago about health insurances with an English website and policies, and there were a few. So maybe worth scrolling down a bit and see if you find the links.

My doctor's office is closed this week. Can anyone please recommend another practice or let me know if there is a walk-in clinic in Leiden?
Rene T. replied:
There is an after hours huisartsen post that operates after 5 and on weekends. The phone number is 0900-5138039. Did your huisarts provide an alternative? They must provide access to another huisarts. If you tell me the name of the practice I can call and listen to the message...or maybe your Dutch is good enough to understand what it says!
Kelvin W. replied:
Try the International Health Centre in Den Haag - it's on the number 1 tram route. Wondering if your practice is closed due to a reason I heard of recently, that if the doctors have already seen the number of patients that they are contracted to see in one year by the insurance company that they don't do anything other than emergencies now until 2014!!!
