The old Coast Guard station at Indian River has some marvelous programs for all ages. There are programs for kids and an awesome class on making sea glass jewelry for the ladies. Dewey has free bonfires and movies on the beach. There is a bike/walking trail from Rehoboth to Lewes. The farmer's markets are fun and have more then veggies. There is also an company that his reasonably priced paddle boarding lessons for kids. I can't remember the name of the company, but they advertise on WGMD. It's a little bit of a drive, but Salisbury Zoo is delightful, free, and have some children programs plus a great play area.
A visit to Gallery One at 32 Atlantic Ave...great place to relax and see wonderful art by local artists!

Catch a movie at The Clayton Theater in Dagsboro. It's a real throwback to the olden days of one movie per theater...and wonderfully restored.

Cape Henlopen State Park has a playground near the nature center for the kids, Ft. Miles Battery tours are the best, climbing the tower for a view of Cape May, free bike rentals in the park, plus beaches! Walking the historic area of Lewes will see lots of history - Lewes Historical Society has many tours available and the Zwaanendal Museum is cool too.

Rehoboth Museum on Rehoboth Ave. they change their exhibits. Always interesting. It's small and almost free. I think they ask for a donation as you enter.

Take them letterboxing ! There are tons of letterboxing hidings in Sussex County. Fun and adventurous ! Here is a link to all the boxes hidden in Delaware. We used to go with another family. Our kids had their own stamp and a cute little box they kept a notebook in to stamp the hidden boxes and date them. Letterboxing is not just for kids, infact there is a group of Red Hat Ladies that hide some in our area. Letterboxing can be done all around the country. It is always fun to find a few whenever we were on vacation in other states or areas. http://www.letterboxing.org/BoxByRegion.php?region=Delaware

Rent some bikes and do the bike path to Lewes. Lewes has a wonderful museum, that's free, as well...the ferry has a trolley tour of the historic areas of town. Sweet Frog is great.....it's frozen yogurt with lots of different toppings. Up in the last outlets near Staples. You can also do a round trip on the ferry to Cape May and back., it's $18 for adults and $9 for children 6-13, under is free.....children love it.
Ocean City boardwalk/rides (rides are really great!). They also have Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum there. Cape May/Lewes ferry, Pirate Expedition out of Lewes Harbor, Trap Pond State Park (boat rides through the cyprus swamp and great trails), water par

Might be too obvious, but I wouldn't dream of letting my relatives visit and NOT taking them to Funland... it's a real throwback. Kohr's for frozen custard. Ibach's for dark choc covered pretzels. Navigator's park across from Bad Hair Day for a sweet afternoon break. Bandstand for some free music. Rehoboth Art League for nice strolling. Water Taxi Sunset Cruise for a lovely BYO wine & cheese special event. Gordon's Pond trail (at least out to the first overlook) for an easy view of our wetlands.
