My band are on Functioncentral.co.uk - (under the name Crossfire) we are contractually obliged to contact the client 3 weeks prior to the event however I would always be happy to speak to clients way in advance and sort out finer details earlier than this. Communication goes a long way to reassuring the client and gives both parties a clear understanding of what is expected - If the band you've booked are ignoring your emails I'd personally look elsewhere.

The band will have been issued a contract that you should have a copy of... Generally it will specify playing a specific number of sets between 2 times ... ie 3 sets of 40 mins between 7.30 and midnight... It will also detail set up arrangements etc.. The agent or the band may be the point of contact.. We (The Redfords) have done weddings through an agent .. But prefer to deal directly with the client it's much much easier for both parties.. If you cancel you may be liable to a cancellation fee.. I would call the agent and express your lack of confidence..
