I have many favourite restaurants, that's why I couldn't choose... wink emoticon and none of them are on the rue de Gand - although I'm told that "meet people" is very good. Here are a few... Excellent (and good value) simple sushi to be had at Kyoto, next to Li lle Flandres. Expensive but truly succulent Thai food on the wazemmes market square, at Tiparo Thai. Good - but not cheap - French/world cuisine at the Melting pot, behind the Opera. And of course, the Pot Beaujolais, on rue de Paris... sooooo FRENCH (vegetarians: run!). I also warmly recommend a tiny restaurant called la Cant'in, rue st nicolas just off the rue de paris, where they cook local fresh food and if you're lucky enough to find a seat there (lunchtimes only), you'll thank me for ever wink emoticon
