You don't need. License contractor unless it's an insurance job. Depends on what you need done I know lots of them that are and are not licensed. Brent Williams at church is good he did the bathroom at church. My uncle Rich Adams is really good too Jason Kyser is really good. Roof, floor, ad on, remodel?
