If you want to be funny you have to connect with your audience. I performed for my extended family at a barbecue yesterday. I fucking nailed it. I also had my hard of hearing Grandpa assist me with a cut and restored rope. He didn't understand a word I was saying. I kept begging him to cut the rope, To which he responded "What?" Then inspiration struck. I shouted "Cut the Pope!" And my grandpa immediately cut the rope. I don't know why it was funny. But everyone was rolling with laughter for five minutes.

People have name checked some of the best working mentalists in the UK. For more traditional magic I'd say Kieron LeFever is one of the most creative performers out there, you will not have seen his kind of stuff before, his material is great. I know a bunch of other great traditional closeup guys, John Holt is fantastic for example and does a lot of weddings.
