I've heard NorCal Veterinary Specialists is good. AIMSS ( Animal Internal Medicine & Specialty Services--off Judah in Inner Sunset) is great for emergencies. Personally we use Adobe Animal Hospital in Los Altos, and don't mind the drive for non-emergencies services: https://www.adobe-animal.com/northbay/

adobe animal hospital, los altos. 650-948-9661....and especially good because it is open 24/7.....i have been going to the vets there for over 20 years. some of the 'old timers' that i go to if possible are dr. o'day, dr. zweiter, dr. blackwolf, dr. jane johnson, and there are many others i am comfortable going to.

No personal experience, but a friend had a good experience with the clinics at the UC Davis Veterinary teaching hospital for specialized care for their dog.
