Tim's "caddyshack" post has inspired me to introduce this topic. What kind of unusual summer job(s) did you have in high school while you were waiting for your "real"...

My most "unusual job" was really not "so unusual" but took place the summer between HS, and Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, was working for Sears in the Colonial Park Mall, designing kitchens. My first day on the job was in housewares, directly across the isle from the kitchen cabinets. The second day, I got called into the Human Resource office, thinking I really screwed up the first day. However that was not the case. They asked me if I would consider working in the kitchen cabinets, as the Manager of the department, George Jaijac noticed me, and offered to show me the ropes designing kitchens, if I would consider it. Never having done anything like it before, I said I would try it, and found it to be an easy task for me. After awhile, I was even left on my own, while George was off on other business. I soon found that the commission that I made on designing a whole kitchen was much to my liking. That was before the days of mapping a design on a computer too!!! I have since then utilized those skills in designing at least three of my own kitchens, and also for friends. It totally amazes me that they would offer a "kid", such as I was back then, a job needing that skill set, which is what I consider unusual about it. But I was pleased as punch, and so were my parents, as I earned and saved enough money that summer to pay for my whole tuition, and then some!!!!!
