Are either of you Texas Tech employees? If so, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) gives you 5 free sessions per fiscal year. I went to them for some anxiety issues last year, and was very pleased.

Sorry to hear about the rough times. Do you attend a church? Many have qualified professionals attending who would be willing to meet for a heavy discount or free even if the church refers you. Your best bet here is a larger congregation. That's definitely the route I suggest. Best of luck!

I'm sorry to hear this. If either of you is by chance a student at a university they usually offer something.

To your second request, the spouse that gets Latrell Joy (806-765-7491) wins. For most people though money is an object so Bill McNamara is another good person to have in your back pocket (806-747-8989). Full disclosure, I haven't needed either's services. I have a family member that's worked with both professionally and I know both personally.

Call your state Department of ED and get their Standard Core Curriculum and then call the National Homeschooling Association to get him signed up and they will inform you of all your rights as far as homeschooling goes.

So you'll be registering him as a homeschooler? What Tonia posted above looks very helpful. Also, if you go to the HSLDA (homeschool legal defense association) website you can find your state laws. I believe Texas is a very homeschool friendly state. Here in FL you can be under an umbrella school or register with the county, in which case you just need to have samples of their work, a log of lesson plans, and a yearly test or informal evaluation by a certified teacher. The law only states that they need to make progress commensurate with their ability. Important for the parent of a special needs child to know. I don't know if you're looking for secular or Christian but if you go to Christianbook.com in their homeschool section, they have everything you could ever need. You could also find much of it used on Amazon or EBay.
