Can anyone recommend a divorce lawyer? My wife just gave me the paperwork tonight :(
If someone can recommend someone that would be cool. Thanks guy.

My job prevents me from recommending anybody in particular, but chances are someone will recommend someone in particular whose last name starts with M. He's a colossal jerk - a legendary narcissistic conceited sociopath. We're talking an entire water park of douche. In his modest frame he packs more asshole than the world's two biggest hot dog factories combined. ...so he's probably a good bet, because that's probably what most people need in a divorce lawyer. Edit: also, delete Facebook and hit the gym, because I guess it's customary to say that?

A good friend of mine is a darn good divorce lawyer. Here's his contact info if you're interested. [Here](http://www.legaldirectories.com/Murray-Patrick-C-882161-Atty.aspx)

It kind of depends. I know a lot of divorce lawyers (paralegal for almost 20 years). Do you have kids? Will there be a fight or will the split be amicable? Do you want an aggressive lawyer or someone who is more interested in compromise? Do you have a lot of assets to divide (more than a house, cars)? What is your budget? I always recommend Mike Carper 747-3016. He’s expensive but good and doesn’t pad his billing. Aggressive, but will tell you like it is if he thinks you are being ridiculous. Neville Manning is who I’m assuming another poster was referring to. He is a good divorce lawyer. I can’t confirm nor deny any other allegations relating to his character. Anna McKim (792-0810) is another divorce lawyer in his firm who is good and I can vouch for her lack of douchiness. Neville would not be cheap and I assume Anna’s rates are comparable to Neville’s. Angie Lee (744-3232) also helps out with CPS cases and would be an asset in cases involving kids. Jolynn Wilkins used to do collaborative divorces, focused on mediating and settling differences and would be good if you guys don’t hate each other yet. Tonya Boucher would also be a good option. Be prepared to come up with a retainer of at least $1000, up to $5k or more depending on the factors I listed first.

Good luck. It's a tough process, or can be. Count all your money and check where it's been going these past couple of months or year. Someone may have a head start on you.

Hey thanks everyone for the options! I have some ideas now. There is a child involved but I basically just need someone to review paperwork with me. She already has it in the paperwork that we retain any assets we both entered the marriage with, and anything that was a joint purchase (which wasn't much) I get to keep. She just wants out and we both want our kid to grow up with stable parents. Thanks for all the words of advice and encouragement.
