Natasha, we only had the more expensive SSD drives in stock and have been trying to call you. There is no obligation to go ahead but our fixed rate for SSD drive 240gb and reinstall and transfer data is £220 plus vat. Im away for christmas with family but please just take back the computer if it still has our new drive in and will put it back as it was. The longer wait would be to order a standard drive - a lot cheaper which would take a couple of days to arrive. Things are a bit chaotic near christmas trying to get jobs finished. We are Peacock Computers in Lymington. We take a £75 plus vat (£90) deposit for all laptops then do a diagnostic - this money can go towards a new laptop or the work done for a good solution - if not going ahead then It covers our costs and diagnostics. Usually we give an idea of the costs also before taking the booking in fee. Its all explained when booking in . Its my own name on the business and we are always on the customers side . Thanks everyone. Natasha, we are on your side and just talk to Matt or Graham who are still at the office today.

Natasha, purely by way of comparison I had my Dell Studio Windows 10 desktop hard drive replaced in Feb with a 1TB one by PC Repair in Christchurch for £104.95 +VAT in a matter of days. I was happy with the price and service. As Robin said, I don't take any risk and back up everything regularly on any computer. I don't know the quality of the new drive but it's still working fine; whatever the 'quality' one day it won't.
