@Colin Gibson. A qualified dentist is someone who has sat an accredited exam, in this country that's the BEVA/BVDA exam, although there are other exams but members of the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians have all passed that exam and the student members are working towards that exam.

Colin G. replied:
Think Kat Rockett is giving you good advice, but not sure what a qualified dentist is? I use my vet Helen Taylor, been doing them for 9 years and the quality of her work was described as 'some of the best I have seen' by Cris Pearce today when he attended to do some specialist work with one of mine! If you don't know Cris Pearce, he is a specialist vet in dentistry, may be the only one in the country.

Margie B. replied:
Merrygate in Brockenhurst are dementia care givers and also have an extensive mobile dental surgery. I spoke at length to the new owners of the surgery who are passionate about going out into the community for the elderly. Uzma Ahmed is the lovely owner.
Lisa O. replied:
No!!! Barton Lodge was her first home and after 3 months we had to move her. We were told they couldn't deal with her type of dementia (she would wander in the night) !!!! Despite the sign saying 'Specialist Dementia Care' . Looks good on the outside, gardens, posh rooms, but the care not great. Don't judge a book.......We moved her to Beach Crest, on the cliff top. She has lived there for 4 years, and her care has been excellent. Even when she fell and broke her hip the owner and his wife visited her in Southampton General to give her lunch. Only a small home 11 residents, but cannot recommend it enough to anyone who has to make the difficult decision to home a loved one. We've managed to contact Merrygate in Brockenhurst. Thank you Shirley Parker Smith for the recommendation. They have been incredibly helpful and will visit her tommorrow.
Tracey L. replied:
Hi, I work at Merrygate Dental Practice and we specialise in dealing with dementia patients and visit nursing homes regularly. We would be more than happy to visit your Mum. Our telephone number is 01590 623028.
