Anyone spend their wedding night in the Madison area? Looking for hotel recommendations for the big night.
drunkenAmoeba replied:
Where are you getting married? Something near or connected to the venue might be nice... (Ex. Monona Terrace --> Hilton).
**For most romantic, definitely go for something with a Capitol or Lake view. Some hotels even offer both in one room.**
If price isn't a concern, I'd go: The new **AC Hotel** that just opened up right off the Square (Capitol/Lake views), **the Edgewater** (Lake/Capitol views), the newly remodeled **Inn on the Park** (Capitol views), or **the Concourse** (Capitol/Lake views). Because it's brand new and gorgeous from the outside (I assume inside as well), the AC Hotel would be my personal choice, especially with a top-floor room facing the Capitol.
I don't really understand all the recommendations for Hotel Red in this thread. It's a fine little modern hotel. Rooms are nice but I didn't think they were particularly "romantic"... lots of concrete, steel, etc. They are super modern, fun, and nice...but not romantic. Also the location is weird unless your wedding is on/near the west end of Campus.

We spent ours at the 'Premiere Park Best Western'. Presidential Suite and Executive Suite have views of the capital that are just unreal, and having walking access to the entirety of downtown is super nice. It was newly renovated last fall, so everything was practically still glistening.

Sundara if you don't mind the travel to the Dells area. Super romantic, adults only. Amazing facilities.
MarkOnFire replied:
Depends on where your wedding is, but we were happy at the Concourse downtown, just because it was a good deal and was close to our venue. Edgewater seemed about the same price wise but newer and nicer.

I once webt to a wedding at this [lovely botique inn](http://www.mansionhillinn.com/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwrsDIBRDX3JCunOrr_YYBEiQAifH1FqAY8 tc0DuQgWavdmv6 scVO8ZNAbga9NiJe2HiGYjSYaAgh98P8HAQ). It was quite charming and close to a lot of high end dining on the Capitol Square.

We had a nice honeymoon sweet at Mariott Courtyard right around when they opened. My wife and I got in late and fell right asleep, then had to get up early for family breakfast. If I could do it over (no jinx) I would consider staying the night after the wedding, so I could enjoy the amenities.

Just went to a wedding reception at and stayed in Inn on the Park. It's newly remolded with decent prices, and gorgeous interior.

We stayed at the Hilton next to Monona terrace. We were fortunate enough to be on a top floor with a view of the lake. Woke up to a sunrise over lake Monona. Made-to-order breakfast.
ForeverAPirateGal replied:
There's a place called Hotel Red. I've never stayed there myself but the reviews are good and the inside looks pretty swanky. Plus it is right down the road from Greenbush and your new husband can go grab you guys breakfast while you get ready for the day! *sorry, did not realize that YOU were the husband. I stand by the breakfast thing though.

I got married a little over two weeks ago and we stayed at the Edgewater and it was fantastic. Very nice room with a beautiful view of the lake. It also had a huge shower and a whirlpool tub. It also helped that we had our reception there, so they gave us a discount and an upgrade to a Presidential suite, but our other guests said the other room were great too.
mbr4jwtdl replied:
Hotel Red is nice, expensive bar and restaurant, and good location. The manager, Jason, is great and might hook you up since it's for your wedding. Mansion Hill Inn is also great. Only a hand full of rooms, great bar and great service. The Edgewater is awesome too. Great lake views at their restaurant and nice spa.
We stayed at a small place called Suenos de Tulum right on the beach back in 2005. LOVED IT!! Great for the independent traveler who likes to go off the beaten path. https://www.locogringo.com/mexico/accommodations/riviera-maya/small-hotels/suenos-de-tulum-hotel/
