if you have only spoken to telstra.. try one of the other ISP's .. telstra might not have any ports they can use.. but there might be some free that are available to other ISP's ... like iinet ... they "resell" telstra ports if you put your number into this page http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/ it will list ISP's you can try for your exchange
