Sheikh Zahir Mahmood advised moving away from flags etc. and to unite under the banner of tawheed so it can universally represent all Muslims, us strongly holding onto and using the representation of flags shows how we are still under colonised mentality. This is not going into silly details but this conveys how strongly we feel about our brothers and sisters being oppressed. Allaah says in the Quraan in Surah R'ad, aayah 11: "Allaah does not change the condition of people until they change their own condition". So us using nationalistic flags is blinding us from the actual goal. May Allaah guide us all, Aameen
