Dorton and Co. on Canton Road. We inherited several pieces of jewelry when my mother-in-law died and took it to him to have new pieces made for both my husband and myself. Loved the way the new stuff turned out! When our daughter turned 21, we had the diamond that my dad had given my mother, who gave it to me, reset. We dealt directly with the owner, John, who is the jeweler.

Depends on the material you want to make it with? Metal? Wood? Hard stone?
TheRamblaGambla replied:
You're going to try to make an engagement ring, or a wedding band? One of those is difficult to the point of being an absurd endeavor that you should think long and hard about pursuing. The other can be a metal circle.

We have used Wilson Brothers and there is a jeweler in the old A&P grocery buildings. I used him to repair something. He seems to have a lot of business to be located in the abandoned shopping center.

I've heard great things about Wilson Bros. Although I just had a diamond ring repaired and re-sized from Gerald, the Jeweler on the Square. He did a great job and was very fairly priced. It was my grandmothers cocktail ring. You should go to both and see how you feel.
Years ago I came to a jeweler here in Marietta who had dozens of books of jewelry molds. I'm hoping my to find a jeweler to recast my mother's lost wedding ring....

Janet E. replied:
I like family-owned, one-store jewelry stores as opposed to the chains. I've used both Wilson Jewelers in downtown Marietta. Bo and Janice Wilson have run it for decades and it has been in Bo's family for generations. Also love a family-owned operation in Hiram, Prestige Jewelers. Got a missing back there for one of my diamond earrings replaced before we left for TN for much less than Kay Jewelers quoted. Prestige got it to me that day when Kay was going to have to order.
