Does anybody know of a (local) bakery that does gluten free cakes? I've found tons of frozen ones in local grocery stores but I'd like one made fresh if possible....

Have tried emailing Jennifer Crews-Carey? She's on facebook. Creative Sweets by Jenn.

If someone needs a gluten free cake for health reasons, such as Celiac Disease, purchasing a GF cake from a regular bakery is not safe due to cross contamination issues. Flour spores are airborne and can easily contaminate GF food. One Dish Cuisine in Ellicott City is a GF facility. The cakes in the freezer section at Whole Foods are very good. Especially when decorated with fresh fruit.

I make wheat free cakes. Currently the space I rent is in a "regular" kitchen. I agree with Amanda that it wouldn't work if you have Celiac's, but for people like me, who are just gluten intolerant, it is fine. My business is Simply Prima, and I bake cakes to order. www.simplyprima.com
