Bob B. replied:
one of our favorites is Quality Inn & Suites Maison St. Charles, not downtown but right on the streetcar line at the edge of the garden district. Camellia Grill serves a great bkfst (a few locations now). Hit Dragos for char grilled oysters (across from Harrahs). can't miss!
Janet V. replied:
Be sure and go to Frenchman Street and explore the ByWater area. You can escape the college kids and hear good music in that area. I like the St Marie in the Quarter and there's a very nice Holiday Inn in the Quarter as well.
Eric S. replied:
Camellia Cafe for breakfast or lunch and Tommy's on Tschopitoulas for dinner
Rick T. replied:
ACME oyster house and The Napoleon House have always been great choices for us in the Quarter.

John just talk to Bobby Young he is an old soul in The Big Easy. Ask about Mandinas Restaurant and if you go talk to Nathan.
Vic H. replied:
Redfish Grill on Bourbon Street. Frequent celebrity sightings (I met Dan Ackroyd, Harry Bellefonte, Chuck Mangione on three different trips). Great oyster combos. K Paul's for best creole--long line. Commander's Palace for best meal ever. Brennan's for breakfast, including best turtle soup on planet. Personally, it think that Gallatois (spelling?) is way overrated, and consequently, overpriced. Mrs. B's is my kids favorite restaurant ever. Napoleon House is one of oldest, darkest, dankest and coolest bars in US. Cigar friendly for you, sir. It's across from the Omni, which is squarely in the French Quarter. For sleep purposes, I would stay a few blocks outside the French quarter. Enjoy. Roullez.
Joseph S. replied:
Mariott French Quarter is great location. Good deals are available sometimes
Donna B. replied:
Paul McCartney stayed there for a month back in the day. We rented that suite for daughter during her wedding week. The small bar has all the photos hanging of famous people. The owner is now around 80 but he's around the guests and employees day and night. Great place
Does anyone remember the drive up restaurant next to Wagners 40 1/2 lanes called "Chicken In a Basket"? They had the best batter fried chicken!
Mary S. replied:
Maybe it was called The Windmill, and they served Chicken in a basket!!!
Tina B. replied:
I worked at the Windmill two summers and they did serve chicken in a basket - also they're own style of corn dogs with homemade batter. Much tastier than Pronto Pup. Pizzaburger and the Wagnerburger and homemade ham salad and chix salad. 'Member the driving range right next door? Dick Kopplien who was Regis class of '65 I think cooked there and we had a blast.
