Maggie J. replied:
Poor guy. Try Blue Ridge Wildlife Center 540-837-9000 in Boyce Va.
Chris W. replied:
Please contact Dr Belinda Burwell at https://www.facebook.com/443042479213329Wildlife Vet Care asap. It is not poisonous, it is a black rat snake looks like.
Gabriel B. replied:
Dropped the snake off to the Blue Ridge Wildlife and made also a donation, they said the snake has a 50/50 chance to make it, but they were able to remove all the mesh successfully. However there was a bit of confusion, while Dr. Bruwell started this place, she no longer works there and her clinic is down the road and her number is 540-664-9494.
Chris W. replied:
Actually Gabriel it looks like you went to the wrong place you took him to the brwc instead even though you've spoken with dr. Burwell I'm glad the snake got help but dr. Burwell could really use donations she's funding this entire Wildlife vet care out of her own pocket doing it on her own land since she lost the prwc so anybody out there looking to help Wildlife dr. Byrd will accept all Wildlife at all hours of the day unlike the prwc and she can really use donations and support
Chris W. replied:
Doctor Burwell is an expert at these but it has been too long so please don't wait. 540-664-9494
Chris W. replied:
Doctor Burwell was the founder of Blue Ridge Wildlife, she now has her own practice, she is way more experienced than anyone at BRWC. (she was wildlife expert at the National Zoo). She also founded the Pet Emergency Clinic in Winchester. And unlike BRWC she responds at all hours to all wildlife. Not just specific ones.
Gabriel B. replied:
Thank you so much!!!!! Spoke with Dr. Bruwell and taking the snake to the clinic for medical attention now.
Martha S. replied:
I see my comment was late. So glad you're taking him to Dr Burwell. Thank you for the update on where to find Dr Burwell.
Hi guys! Does anyone have a recommendation for a good small animal vet in the Middleburg area? My new pup needs a doc :)
Lisa F. replied:
OMG your new pup is darling <3 IMHO all of the vet practices here locally are excellent which makes the decision harder to make. As a pet sitter I've interacted with all of them for routine visits and Rxs. For my own doggie I use Loudoun Veterinary Service in Purcellville (540) 338-7118.

I've been with Middleburg Animal Hospital for two years, for three dogs and five cats, all rescues. Dr. Chau has successfully treated several challenging health issues - and takes time to help my dogs overcome their various phobias, too. I was sad when Dr. Myers left, but now Dr. Chau has brought in two new vets who are also great.

Hi Jessica Hill, my labs used to do the same thing, no fleas either. My cat now does it as well but when emotional and due to a food allergy. Also what we were bathing the labs with (switched to baby shampoo) Change food and get hydro-cortisone spray at either Petco or Petsmart, I have to open and put some cupped in hand because the Labs and cat thought I was torturing them when I sprayed.
