I am quite invested in this subject, as well as suffered for quite some time with both anxiety and depression. Dropped out of college for a year because if it, it was insane. Was on prescription medication and everything. Here are some things outside of seeing a professional that really helped: Read the book: A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle, here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/New-Earth-Awakening-Purpose-Selection/dp/0452289963/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1427264649&sr=1-1&keywords=a+new+earth Learn what Anxiety truly is: This is something that may very from person to person, but what made it super relate-able to me was this: In order to understand how to clear anxiety you need to understand how the subconscious mind and anxiety works. Simple example: At the age of 2 you're on the floor, crawling around like 2 year olds do at the neighbor's house when all of a sudden a big german sheppard gets out of it's kennel and starts running towards you barking. The owner grabs the dog before it reaches you but it scares you shitless. The subconscious mind wants to protect us and because this traumatic event was your first encounter with a dog, your subconscious flags dogs as a threat to your safety. From this moment on, at the subconscious level, your brain has decided it will fire off chemicals to create a fear response when you're in the vicinity of dogs. This is COMPLETELY outside of the control of your conscious mind. 20 years later you're 22, and you've completely forgotten about this incident yet even the smallest poodle triggers you to go into a sweaty and uncomfortable fear even though the rational conscious mind can't talk you out of it. This is how anxiety is created. It's can be through trauma, repetitive behavior (often our parents), etc ... ALL forms of anxiety have a root cause. They can also be cleared. How? By using techniques such as EFT (emotional freedom technique) and NLP (neuro-linguistic-programing - techniques for communicating with the subconscious) to alter the patterns. It's EXTREMELY simple. I've seen someone completely get over 10 YEARS of agoraphobia after a single 90 minute session. Most people have 0 awareness that these services exist and that they are very easy and effective. I hope this helps ... not only cope but understand that there is a root cause of your fear AND that it is clearable. Last but not least: You are not at the mercy of your mind!!!!!! The brain/mind is a tool of yours to control, not the other way around. Try your hardest to not let these emotions control you, and in turn control those emotions. Sorry for the long post, I am passionate about the subject, because it tried to take me down, it tried to destroy my life. I fought back as hard as i could for a full year, and felt like i was losing. I finally turned it around, im graduating this spring, off the meds, all that. Life is good again! I wish everyone who is suffering with anxiety and depression all the best. And if you ever need someone to chat with, who TRULY understands these issues, i am here for you. Also, what helped me, may not help you. It's such a personal thing, that it will always vary person to person. But if these help in any way shape or form, no matter how small, ill be happy!:D
