Although Ray's is a local business, I don't think the actual jerky is local, FWIW. Mouse's Chocolate in Ouray is amazing. And they make it all right there. Homestead Market in Paonia has lots of great local stuff, grown in the North Fork Valley.

drost's chocolates in eckert are among the best i have had anywhere in the country and are more reasonable than rocky mt or mouse's. they are also online.http://drostschocolates.com/company.htm they also have an icecream shops, and an antique cash register museum. this guy has been hand making chocolate since the 50's - no fillers, even his fillings caramel, marshmallows, etc are home made.

Yurtstead or LifeCycles Farms, both of which have a booth at the farmer's market every week, have the best chickens. We just got a 1/4 cow from Bow K in Olathe and have been super happy with it as well (they don't do any commercial sales or markets so you have to contact them directly).

Ted's Steak House. By far one of the best for food and service. Black Canyon for fishing and hiking (when the water isn't running so fast) Nuvista Credit Union is great and Sheryl Kirchner (not sure about spelling) always has a smile on. Grocery store- City Market or Safeway. Gas is expensive and I'll leave it at that.:) How about FB pages? MMB, Montrose What's Cooking, Montrose & Western Slope Events Page. All great pages and great admins that do the job for FREE! And lets not forget Dave Bowman and the Free Concert Music Series!

I really enjoy shopping at the old City Market. The store is clean and organized and the staff are friendly and very helpful. Subway and Subwiches are my favorite resturants. They have delicious food and friendly staff. Also,Maggies Kitchen in Ouray has the best hamburgers ever. The Shell station on the bypass is my favorite gas station. The staff is friendly, the store is always stocked and clean and the manager,Katie Waddell, is amazing. Favorite ice cream shot is Dairy Queen.

I really like Claire at Western. I think the crew at the south City Market are all fantastic. I've yet to get someone having a bad day. Trevor at Qdoba, when I catch him there, is always quick with a smile. Alisha with Cold Stone fixed a problem I had with real grace and never had problems since. Taking care of an issue well is just as important to me. And I had to call Roto-Rooter a while ago for a drain snake and Peter was an absolute pleasure to work with.
