I used Davis Home Inspections also. I agree, he was very thorough. I think the price was around $350 for my 2300 s.f. house.

Brick Kickers. They go anywhere that is accessible including attics and crawl spaces. They give you a detailed report at the end, and if you walk through with them, they point out things that could be issues and maintenance to do. You get a nice book that has a maintenance schedule for the home and a basic home maintenance guide. Very useful. Just keep in mind, legally they can't cut into anything, etc.

We used Brick Kicker 5 years ago and had excellent service. The guy that did our inspection doesn't work for them anymore, but we've been in contact with them a couple times since with questions that have come up about our inspection (and further inspection for a detached structure), and they've been really helpful.

We also used Brick Kicker. For pests, we've used Orkin for several years and have been happy with their service. A friend has used the local Terminix people to deal with termites, and he was happy with their service as well.
