If you PM me, I have contact info for great movers in the city. Avoid the HELL out of Careful Movers. They also go by the name of Brooklyn Movers and storage.

Nothing is better than hiring a company to do your moving. We have used movers twice, it changes the whole process for the better. Do just make sure you get a good company. Feruccio http://www.highlevelmovers.com/

Rent a truck and get friends. Movers in Canada(Not just Alberta) suck ... they're dishonest and they over charge.

DO NOT use Superior Movers! Worst moving service ever.

I had a very good experience with [Lo Cost Moving & Storage](http://calgaryministorage.com/). I felt they took good care of my stuff, worked pretty diligently, and the owner (Scott) quoted me a clear and fair price when he came to have a look at my place.

Only used one service once and it was horrible. Stay away from strong arm movers. We had an appointment for them to move our stuff (had to be out by noon) they didn't show up on time (lucky our landlord was a great guy about it). And by the time they go there the storage unit we were storing stuff in was close there for we needed to stay at the house until morning. They said they'd be there for 8 am and showed up at 10 am. Minimum charge was 2 hours and it took the 3 and tried to charge for 4. Horrible service.

We used Jays Moving a few years ago. They came to our house and gave a detailed quote and were very helpful throughout the entire process. On the day of our move it was -32 but that never slowed them down at all. They moved our 3 bedroom house from the NE to the SW in about 6.5 hours and maybe stopped for a 15 minute quick lunch. Everything was nicely wrapped, taped, and recorded and the guys were all very professional. I've used a few smaller companies in the past and they don't even compare.

premiere movers - they do an amazing job. It's the little things like trucks with two exits (one on the side, one on the back) so they don't block the road and rolling out carpets to all the walking area first so they don't ruin your floor, etc.
alpain replied:
keep in mind the big guys like http://www.amjcampbell.com/ will over quote so you dont get sticker shock when the bill comes, they quoted us 1300 or so in the summer to move from 2 places into one, when the 2 guys finished it came out to only 800 ish i think it was. i assume the same would be for http://www.alliedvanlines.ca/ as well. and yes id go with them again.

I've used the 2 am I got 3 times and had excellent service, prompt and professional! Would definitely be using them again!

Mountain Movers. http://www.mountainmovers.ca/ Troy@403-923-9242. Used them twice in the past year. 2 Loads the first time (including stupidly massive old school Dining Table). 900 bucks. Totally worth it. Next time just one load and it was 440 with tip. (tipped them 40) Nice guys, friendly, no hidden charges, and they ran everywhere.

Don't use Two Small Men, they were horrible when I moved with them once. Not to get too far into it, they gashed my mother's door to hell trying to wedge a couch trough it, the guys who moved me were a real life Beavis and Butthead complete with the stupid laughs... I'm not even kidding. Just...no...

I used Highland movers. We had them move stuff from two different locations so it took a bit longer. Total cost was about $1500. Very professional and very careful with your stuff. They put down mats over everywhere they were walking. They packaged my TV up very safely. Very satisfied.

Darwin Movers $1,100. Pretty good. I would recommend them.
wildkarrde replied:
I tend to chip in all these threads, just avoid Careful/Brooklyn movers like the plague. If your mover is a guy named Muhammad and he works with his 18 year old son, just walk away.

Just used Sago Services (http://supersago.com/) two months ago to go from a 2 bdrm high rise apartment downtown to a townhouse in the SW. Apt was just over 900 square feet. The full move with a full cleaning of the apartment was $1300 ish. It's a family run place but the moving and cleaning crew were all good and professional. Did a great job in my opinion.

I used Red Mile Movers last spring when I moved. I had a 2 bedroom apartment downtown and moved to Mckenzie Towne. To avoid more then one trip with the movers, we took some of what could before hand so it was only one giant load they had to move. Cost about $350 for 3 hrs of work. Super awesome guys, they even helped us move an old dryer from our basement afterwards . Nothing was damaged I would defiantly reccomend. http://www.redmilemoving.com/
Cheap movers in Chicago? Looking for some movers to relocate a studio's worth of furniture on the cheap. Anyone have any good movers you'd recommend?

I've used Bernard movers for a residential move. Besides coming late and stinking like sweat, they got the job done. They wrap your goodies in bubble wrap before moving it out. I don't remember the exact cost but you should give them a shot.

I used three men movers. They were great I moved about 10 miles from one location inside the loop to another. They moved way more than just those things for me. Took them about 4 hours and cost $350. If you are only having them move those items, it will take them 2 hours max!

I used Ameritex and they moved just furniture from a one bed one bath. I had already brought over boxes and smaller items. I also brought dresser drawers separately the day before they moved the furniture. They took apart my bed and put it back together. cost me 265 after tax. I moved about 5 miles. They were good, the only thing that I found weird was that he asked to use my microwave for his lunch. Not that weird, they deserve a break. But strangers.

Both my brother and I used Elate moving for moving and storage. Think it was around $400-500 for them to bring own boxes and pack up for us which isnt cheap but having a little kid in the way makes it harder and they did it in like 3-4 hours for our one bedroom apartment
