Mmmm I will have to look him up in my old year book. I knew Dave Elam because LuAnn Fulmer dated him for awhile & I knew who Dan Boynton was because I knew Gary & Mark. I remember you from back then too. Thanks Scott Tolson:-)

Mike Huffman knows a lot about Morton's early bands. I remember being in Boynton's basement listening to them practice. I think John McFarland played with them at times. Shawn Smith is on my friend list. I can contact him.

^^ Marty was a drummer. I don't think he was in Thanatopsis. I think John McFarland (from info I am getting) was the drummer for Thanatopsis. Jeanie Dennis, No need to contact (Dan) Shawn Smith Joe Nohl is doing that for me, thanks tho:-)

John McFarland played drums for Thanatopsis..Terry Sadler was our manager for a while

I don't know but that's a pretty good guess Barbara Siron! I just remembered, the Dave was Dave Elam. I moved to Morton in summer of 1968 but I never saw this band only heard about them. I knew of a couple people in it but was not friends with any of them. Dan Boynton's brother, Gary Boynton, was a friend of mine in high school tho.

So it is my understanding that the members of Thanatopsis that recorded at Golden Voice Recording Studio in 1968 were Dale Zimmerman, Dave Elam, Dan Boynton, (Dan) Shawn Smith, & John McFarland. As I said, this band was kind of before my time. I do remember Dream Machine a little.

It might be good to contact Jeff Neavor, the band director at the high school, or Katrina Fitzpatrick, the band director at the Junior High. They can probably point you in a good direction.
