Does anyone remember a restaurant on West Main just east of the railroad tracks in the 50's I think it was called The Spot.
Don R. replied:
Probably did! Was thinking we ran into a lot of people who knew Mom or my Grandparent's. On Monday nights would go to Drosten's and sit with a lot of my Grandmother Clark's friends while the men were at Rotary Club at the Methodist Church.
Sue M. replied:
Don, I think the pizza place owners were Dr. and Mrs. Winslade. They were way ahead of their time.
David D. replied:
Karl and Lea (sp) Wolfe ran Drosten's .... Lea would get up at 0'Dark Thirty and make/bake the pies.. I'm with Nancy - banana creme was the best!!!
Don R. replied:
Sue is right on Dr. Winslade! Thanks.... Don't even think many knew what a pizza was back then.
Donna K. replied:
My husband (Bob Konneker)'s grandma Martha Bergan and her husband Tam ran the Spot. If anyone has any photos of the Spot, please post them on here. We've been looking around for a long time for photos, mostly unsuccessfully. Thanks! PS: Mary Jo still bakes delicious pies.
Lenda S. replied:
Donna, are you talking about Jim B from plainview if you are he isn't dead. He is well and alive and remarried.
