Pastries? Does anyone know of any good pastry shops in Charleston? Not talking cupcakes but things you would find in a typical NY bakery like lobster tails or a really...

I agree with /u/unknit on Charleston Bakery and Deli in Summerville! They have great desserts- the red velvet cheesecake is my favorite. It's a Jewish deli/bakery and worth the drive out there. Also don't get sticker shock from the prices of a slice of cake- it's a huge slice and 3 people can share it.

Fiancé from NY. Can confirm that they don’t exist here unfortunately. Best bet is maybe Saffron Bakery on East Bay Street downtown. There is also the Charleston Bakery and Delicatessen in Summerville off Dorchester Road. Best I can think of for now.

Not sure if the overall selection, but everything they make at Wild Flour is on point. We go to the one in west Ashley on 17. Sunday morning Cinnamon rolls are killer!

IDK about NY bakeries, but there are tons of great french bakeries. I highly recommend Christophe Artisan Chocolatier off of king; Their stuff is killer. He's a French chocolate master, but all of their laminated pastries are amazing, and their macaroons/cookies are to die for. Brown's Court has fantastic pastries as well, and any of the Normandy Farms bakeries.

Check out The Daily by Butcher & Bee. Their Pastry Chef Cynthia Wong does incredible work and their new layout really showcases her breads and pastries.
