I see Dr. Karl Schwartz in Munster. He may not be a female doc, but he's the best in NWI. He's careful, thorough, and never in a rush to just get through an appointment. When you have tests done or have questions, you get to talk to him, not his office staff. I had different issues with my pregnancies and deliveries, and he handles them all very well. I'm currently having some bladder issues, and he takes care of that too. I don't have to go to another new doc to take care of it.

Avoid Seaman misdiagnosed me and made this a horrible time for me. Dr. HUSSEY is nwi top dr. For surgery on the female stuff. He is by far the best even the nurses on his floor go to him. Quick appts he is straight to the point and doesn't believe in waiting things out. He was very quick to get me in and he will be doing my surgery. I do think hes the best. Also his office is at the hospital so just if you're there and need Him he's available .
Desiree F. replied:
I never went to Dr. Hussey but he was the on call doctor when I delivered my second baby and I HATED him. Horrible bedside manner. I wanted to kick him in the face and tell him to leave the room.
Putting another question out there to the locals. Rick may need back surgery again. The doc that did his a few years back (Rifai) isn't on our plan, and the one that...
Tony A. replied:
does your plan allow other hospitals? if so, check out their staff. Community Hospital in Munster seems to have plenty of good doctors.
Tony A. replied:
I don't have any experience with "back surgeons" but you might want to try Anne Dempsey in Munster (219-922-0222)....she and her husband are great surgeons.
Peggy E. replied:
Serene, Hi! I had Shepherd do my back 2 times, I would not take my dog to him. He's way to over loaded with patients, has poor bedside manner, and is a butcher!!! Rifi is just as bad, if not worse. I had some of the best up at Rush Hospital in Chicago and they both told me to stay away from Rifi and Shepherd. They said I was lucky I was walking. Now I have severe leg nerve and muscle damage. Since I had them, I've had 7 back surgery's. The best Doctor you have up there is Mike Hartman in Elkart, In. He pretty much put me back together. But that only helped for 10yrs. When I was in Indiana for the reunion, I had just had surgery number 8 in April! I've had a lot of damage, and a lot of repairs from screw ups. If he can, put surgery off as long as possible! Once they start cutting, that vertebra just starts to crumble. If he can't wait, get more then one opinion. Hope this helps! if you need to talk about it, let me know! Peggy

Dr Hartman is in Elkart, Indiana. Excellent spine surgeon, very highly recommended from Rush!
