Diego who runs [Underdog Academy](https://www.theunderdogacademy.com/about) He's certified, and genuinely loves dogs, connects with them, and works with owners to find what kind training is best for their dog. I know multiple friends that have worked with him and gave great reviews.

Call up Elizabeth Schonberg. Her info is at the [bottom of this article.](https://www.msah.com/services/dogs/blog/training-dog-new-year) The way it works is you pay a flat, one-time fee and she comes back to your home until the dog knows a pre-defined list of commands (you have some choice in that before it starts). She works around your schedule too. In some ways, she's training you to be the dog's trainer. Word of warning that she does use pinch collars a little bit, so you might want to look elsewhere if you have an issue with that. I can't say enough good things about how effective and fast her training is though.

The best trainer in the area is hands down Joseph James with Professional K9 Solutions (https://www.facebook.com/PROK9S/?pnref=lhc), but that might be overkill for what you're looking for. He pretty much works magic.

Gallivan Burwell with Upward Dog Training. Please whoever you use, use a trainer who uses positive reinforcement and for the love of all that is holy don't let anyone convince you to use an e-collar! They're shock collars plain and simple and there are a few groups around New Orleans using them for anything and everything related to training.
Anyone know of a good dog trainer?? My dog is ruining my life.

Here is information from Emily. Go this way and avoid C Milan (my 2 cents): I can't comment on your friend's post, but based on her brief description of her dog's issues, it sounds like he has compulsive disorder. The compulsive licking is a common dis order in Cavs, frequently accompanied by other compulsions as well. Ideally she needs to consult a veterinary behaviorist; unfortunately the closest ones to her are Dr. Martin in Austin and Dr. Tynes in Sweetwater. I know Dr. Martin and his wife Debbie very well, and they are spectacular. I'd highly recommend that she reaches out to them at their website veterinarybehavior.com. Even if they can't help her directly, they can probably recommend a good Certified Behavior Consultant Canine and a vet who can address the behavioral and medical aspects of her dog's case. The next best option is to go to ccpdt.org and look for a CCBC in her area. CPDTs may not be qualified to address her case. But Dr. Martin is her best option. I'd also highly recommend that she read the books "Don't Shoot the Dog" by Karen Pryor and "Decoding Your Dog" by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists. I wish her all the best.

Collin O'Hara: not kidding. Watch Cesar Milan and get his book(s.) MAJOR help. Plus, a trainer may help your dog, initially, but once the trainer is gone, so goes the good dog. YOU, dear Collin, must be ALPHA! No one else. (Unless you have a baby. Baby must be co-alpha.)
Hi neighbors. We are not happy with our current cat sitter and have several trips planned over the summer. Any one have a pet/cat sitter they can recommended?
